Use the export function to export whole projects, including their content (tasks, status reports and feedback) in a proprietary smenso Cloud format (.sc) and to import them again if you like.
Tasks can also be exported in an open CSV format for further processing in Microsoft Excel. Tasks in a CSV format can also be re-imported.
Exporting tasks
- Open the project from which you want to export the tasks
- Open the options menu

Select Export tasks as a CSV file
All tasks of the project with all properties will be exported and downloaded in CSV format (except attached files in tasks).
Further use of the CSV file
The downloaded CSV file should not simply be opened in Excel. It should be loaded into Excel via a CSV import, as described below:
- Open Excel (not the file)
- Choose the tab
Data
- Under Get and transform data, select the item
From text/CSV
- In the Import Data window, select the downloaded CSV file and confirm with
Open
- Next, under File origin, select the format
65001: Unicode (UTF-8)
- Confirm by with
Load
Exporting a project
- Open the project you want to export
- Open the options menu
- Choose Export project

In the following dialog you can determine whether assigned persons should be exported or not.
Note: If a project is re-imported and this checkbox was active during export, smenso Cloud tries to check the existing persons in the respective tenant and to match them if necessary. If the project is re-imported in the same tenant, the persons will be assigned accordingly.
Note: Attachments (files) from tasks or status reports will not be exported.
Importing tasks
- Open the project overview
- Open the project which you want to use to import tasks
- Select the menu item Import tasks in the options menu
- In the following dialog, select the fields you want to import. It is possible that some fields are not recognized and assigned immediately. However, you can determine the field assignments yourself in this step.
Importing a project
Only files in .sc format (smenso Cloud) are accepted.
Please proceed as follows:
- Open the project overview
- Select the ⚙ icon
- Select Import Project
- Drag and drop the .sc file in the Import dialog, or select Browse to find a file on the computer
- Choose a project name, project type and folder and lastly, choose a start date for the project:
