***The new sign in process is currently being rolled out***
We are switching the identity provider from Auth0 to Microsoft Azure
Starting now, all customers will be gradually migrated to the new identity provider.
1. New look
At first glance, the appearance of the login pages has changed:
2. Changed sign in
At second glance, the login process is also somewhat different. The first step is going to be entering your email address, you will then be redirected to the authentication (password entry) with your preferred sign in method, which can be e.g.
- If you use an e-mail address and password: Enter your password
- If you use a Microsoft (Personal) account: Enter your Microsoft password on the Microsoft sign in pages.
- If you use a Microsoft 365 / Azure AD user account: Enter your Microsoft 365 / Azure AD password on the Microsoft sign in pages.
3. Invitation of new users / registration
New users are now added to a workspace (exclusively) via email invitation links.
Before, new users could only create a new account if they happened to know the URL of their organization's workspace. An invitation by an administrator was not possible.
Why are we doing this?
Improved sign in
With this change, we primarily want to improve your login experience and also make it easier for new teammates to join smenso Cloud Workspace.
We also want to improve email communication throughout the entire experience, from invitations to verification codes to welcome emails, etc. We're about to set this up in the coming weeks.
More security for your data
With the new sign in, we will also be able to offer enhanced security features in the future, such as multi-factor authentication for regular user accounts or single sign-on solutions with other identity providers such as Microsoft 365.
In addition, Microsoft is considered one of the most secure and privacy compliant cloud providers on the planet 🌎 Microsoft invests over $1 billion per year in cybersecurity research and development and has more compliance certifications than any other cloud provider.
We are proud of our partnership with Microsoft and are expanding it even further with this change!
Admin center and better user management (coming soon!)
The upgrade lays the foundation for various further developments that are already in the starting blocks, including a administration area for organization owners/workspace administrators and improved user management.
More registration possibilities (coming soon!)
Organization owners/workspace administrators will soon have the ability to enable additional identity providers to use single sign-on for their team members, such as Google or Azure Active Directory.
Note for existing users // We need your help
Once your workspace has been moved to the new identity provider, you will need to re-register and re-authenticate your existing user account once.
We will notify you by email as soon as your workspace is upgraded as part of the step-by-step change of the identity provider. With the first email we will announce the upgrade, with the second email you will receive an invitation link to re-authenticate for your smenso Cloud user account.
- You will receive an email with the announcement of the identity provider change
- You will receive an email with an invitation link! Just follow this link and re-register.
The link will not expire, so you can do this whenever you want.
And don't worry, the data and information of your workspace and your existing user account will not be affected by the change.
Important information on inviting new users
In the future, workspace administrators or organization owners will be able to control the user management of their workspace themselves in our Admin Center. They will be able to invite new users and add or remove users accordingly.
❗ However, currently, as we are still ramping up the new Admin Center, new users can only be invited for a workspace through smenso support. We are working hard to make the Admin Center available to all customers soon. ❗
