In smenso, folder properties offer numerous ways to tailor the structure, layout, and behaviour of tasks within a folder. Below is an overview of all available fields and options in the folder properties.
General folder fields
When creating or editing a folder, several fields are available to describe it. These fields are purely informational and let you record important metadata.
-
Name:Folder title -
Assigned to:Person or team the folder is assigned to -
Priority:Classification, e.g. High, Medium, Low -
Start date / End date:Timeframe for the folder -
Description:Additional information or notes
These details appear in the folder overview and on hover over the i icon. They have no functional impact but help you orient yourself quickly in the project.
Options and advanced settings
1. Assign task directly to the creator
- When enabled, any new task in this folder is automatically assigned to its creator.
- This saves time and ensures new tasks land with the right person immediately.
2. Create new tasks as private (incl. selecting people/teams)
- When enabled, new tasks in this folder are private by default.
- While enabling, you can choose the people or teams allowed to see these tasks—similar to task-level visibility, but pre-selected at creation time.
3. Define task templates and views as folder defaults
- You can set a task template as the folder default. New tasks then automatically inherit that layout and its fields.
- You can also set a default view. Whenever you open the folder, the chosen view (e.g.
List,Board,Timeline, or a saved custom view) loads automatically.
More on task templates can be found here.
4. Colour-code folders
- Use the context menu to assign a colour to a folder for better project overview.
- Optionally colour the entire row (
Fill folder row) to highlight key areas.
Tip: Use different colours for phases or categories to aid navigation.
How to open folder properties
- Click the folder name or the
…menu next to it. - Choose
