In smenso, folder properties offer numerous options for customizing the structure, layout, and behavior of tasks within a folder. Here you’ll find an overview of all available fields and options in the folder properties.
General folder fields
When creating or editing a folder, various fields are available to describe the folder. These fields are used exclusively as informational data and help store important metadata for the folder.
-
Name:Title of the folder -
Assigned to:Person or team the folder is assigned to -
Priority:Classification, e.g. High, Medium, Low -
Start date/End date:Time range for the folder -
Description:Additional information or notes about the folder
This information is shown in the folder overview and when hovering over the i icon. It has no additional functionality, but helps with quick orientation within the project.
Options and advanced settings
Prevent the creation of new tasks
- With this option enabled, users cannot create new tasks in this folder.
- This setting applies to all users except admins. Admins can still create tasks.
Assign new tasks directly to the creator
- With this option, new tasks in this folder are automatically assigned to the person who creates them.
- This saves time and ensures new tasks immediately land with the creator.
Create new tasks with restricted access
- Sets the permission for new tasks in this folder to “Restricted” for the creator.
- Optionally, you can select additional people or teams who automatically receive access upon creation.
Create new tasks as private (including selection of people/teams)
- When this option is enabled, new tasks in this folder are private by default.
- You can directly select people or teams who are allowed to see the tasks when enabling this option. This works similarly to restricting visibility in a task, but already at task creation.
Define task templates and views as defaults for a folder
- You can define default templates for a folder. New tasks or subtasks in this folder will then automatically adopt the layout and fields from the selected template.
- In addition, you can now define a default view in the folder properties. This means that whenever you open the folder, the selected view (e.g.
List,Board,Timeline, or a saved custom view) is loaded automatically.
You can find more information about task templates here.
Color-code folders
- Using the context menu, you can assign a color to each folder to improve project overview.
- Optionally, the entire row can be colored (
Fill folder row) to highlight important areas even more clearly.
Tip: Use different colors for different phases or areas. This makes orientation easier.
How to open the folder properties
- Click the folder name or the
three-dot menu (…)next to the folder. - Select
