In the Workspace Settings, under General, you can configure settings that apply across the entire workspace.
You can define:
- how Project IDs are assigned, and
- whether members with read-only access to restricted main tasks are allowed to create and edit subtasks.
Project IDs
Project IDs uniquely identify projects. Two options are available for assigning them.
Manual project IDs
With this default setting, a Project ID can optionally be assigned manually in a project's settings. Alphanumeric values are supported.
Consecutive numbers for project IDs
With this setting, Project IDs are automatically generated consecutively for all projects. Existing projects are numbered chronologically, and new projects are assigned the next available consecutive number.
Optionally, you can define a Start number. The settings also display the most recently assigned number and the next upcoming Project IDs.
Note
The start number cannot subsequently be set lower than the number of the last project created within this number range. A higher start number can be set at any time.
Subtasks for restricted Main Tasks
The Allow subtasks despite restriction setting specifies whether members with read-only access to a main task are still allowed to create and edit subtasks.
Setting disabled (Default)
Members with read-only access cannot create or edit subtasks. The restriction applies in full.
Setting enabled
Members can continue to create and edit subtasks despite having read-only access to the restricted main task.
Note
This setting applies only to main tasks that are restricted on a per-project basis. The Read-Only Member system role is not affected and retains read-only access in all cases.

The settings described in this article are available only to members with the Owner role.

Can I assign project IDs automatically?
Yes. Under General in the Workspace Settings, you can enable automatic assignment of sequential project IDs.
Can I define a starting number for sequential project IDs?
Yes. You can define a custom starting number. However, it cannot be changed to a number lower than the most recently assigned project number.
Can members edit subtasks even if the parent task is restricted?
Yes. Enable Allow subtasks despite restriction in the General Workspace Settings.
