AI subtasks suggest suitable subtasks for a task. To do this, the AI evaluates the task data. You decide which suggestions to accept. This article explains how to generate and accept suggestions and what to keep in mind.
Please note
AI subtasks are part of the AI features. They are available when AI is enabled in the workspace and you are allowed to view AI features. Each suggestion uses credits; see How AI credits work. The AI makes suggestions and may be wrong. Review them before accepting them.
Have subtasks suggested
- Open a task.
- In the
Subtaskssection, clickSuggest. The tooltip explains: βSuggests new subtasks with AI. You can accept them individually or all at once.β
While the AI is working, the section is greyed out. The suggestions then appear directly below Subtasks. They are not subtasks yet, but suggestions for you to review. The suggestions are new subtasks; existing subtasks are not changed as a result.
Accept or discard suggestions
There are controls for each suggestion and below the list:
-
Check mark (
Accept): creates exactly this suggestion as a subtask. The other suggestions remain. -
Trash can (
Discard): removes this one suggestion from the list. -
Apply all: creates all outstanding suggestions as subtasks. -
Discardbelow the list: discards all outstanding suggestions.
Accepted suggestions appear as normal subtasks that you can continue to work on as usual: assign them, set a due date, rename them, or delete them. The counter next to Hide subtasks shows how many subtasks there are. The subtasks initially only have a title. You decide who works on them and by when.
Note
You can generate new suggestions at any time using Suggest.
Tips for better suggestions
- Describe the task clearly: The clearer the task is described, the more likely the suggestions are to be suitable. The AI writing assistant can help with this.
- Derive them from comments: You can have open items from a discussion suggested directly as subtasks; see AI comments.
-
In AI chat: The
AI chatin the task details can also suggest subtasks. It does not change or delete existing subtasks; see How smenso AI works.

Can I edit a suggestion before accepting it?
Accept it and then edit the subtask like any other. You can rename it, assign it, set a due date, or delete it.
