🪄 AI Comments

For tasks with long discussions, the AI actions in the comments section can help: AI summarises comments, extracts decisions and open points, answers questions about the discussion, suggests replies, and can update the task description. This article explains what each action does, what only you can see, and what is saved for everyone in the task.

Please note

AI actions are part of the AI features. They are available when AI is enabled in the workspace and you are allowed to view AI features. Each action uses credits; see How AI credits work. AI can make mistakes, so check important statements against the comments.

Open AI actions

Open a task and switch to the Comments tab.
Click AI actions to the right of the tabs.

The menu displays the Ask smenso AI… field at the top, followed by two groups of actions. At the bottom, it shows what has happened since your last comment, for example, “5 new comments since you commented on 30 September at 09:00”.

Who can see the result?

Only you (“others can’t see this”): Since my last reply, Decisions, My open points, Open points for everyone, and your questions in the Ask smenso AI… field. These results are only visible to you.
Everyone (“saved in the task”): Summarise comments and Update description. These results are visible to everyone who can see the task.

The results appear as a card above the comment field. You can switch between multiple results on the card using the tabs and the selection menu next to them. The card header contains Copy, Regenerate, Collapse, and Close.

Actions only for you

Since my last reply

Summarises what has happened since your last comment, separated into What else happened and Open. Use Insert as comment to transfer the text into a comment.

Decisions

Lists the decisions made in the discussion, including the date and person. Here too, there is an Insert as comment option.

My open points and Open points for everyone

My open points shows what is still open for you in the discussion. If there is nothing, it says “No open points found.”
Open points for everyone shows under TODOS who still needs to do what, including the deadline and the person who initiated it. Use Suggest as subtask to turn these into suggestions for subtasks. You can accept them individually or with Apply all, or reject them with Discard (see AI subtasks).

Ask your own questions

Use the Ask smenso AI… field to ask a question about the discussion, for example, “Who supported which option and why?” Press Enter to submit. The answer appears on the Ask the comments tab, with your question above it and references to the relevant comments.

Actions for everyone

Summarise comments

Creates a summary of the comments and displays it above the comments. It includes, among other things, an Overview, the Key points, and Open questions. The card is marked “AI-generated” with the creation date and time. It is saved in the task, so it is also visible to others. Use Regenerate to update it. Update description

AI suggests adding to the task description what was established in the discussion. The suggestion appears as a draft with the note “will only be written to the description when applied”. Deleted text is shown in red strikethrough, and new text is highlighted in green. Use Show less to collapse the long draft. The description is only changed when you click Apply to description.

Suggested reply in the comment field

AI can also help while you are writing a comment. Click in the comment field and then click the wand icon in the toolbar. With Suggested reply, AI suggests a reply to the discussion, for example, “Benjamin’s decision is still pending; based on what we know so far, I still believe option A is the best choice.” The suggestion is added as a draft in the comment field and is only published when you click Comment. FAQ

Can others see that I asked AI a question?

No. Results marked “Only for you · others can’t see this” are only visible to you. Only Summarise comments and Update description affect everyone.

Does AI update the description automatically?

No. Update description only displays a draft. The description is changed only when you select Apply to description.

Is an AI reply posted automatically?

No. A Suggested reply appears as a draft in the comment field. It is only published when you click Comment.
