With Automatic Scheduling in the Gantt view (and also in the Timeline view), you can manually schedule your timeline with the push of a button and have it checked for optimizations. Tasks can have all typical dependency types, including dependencies among subtasks.
smenso plans consistently throughout your entire project structure – either forward from the start date or backward from the end date.
The automatic scheduling deliberately does not run in the background but is triggered intentionally by an authorized member via a button. This way, you always retain control over when dates in your project change.
Automatic Scheduling takes into account all set dependencies (including among subtasks), the duration of tasks, and any set date constraints of individual tasks.
Notes
- Automatic scheduling can only be executed by the project management and admins.
- Automatic scheduling is also available in the Timeline view.
Using Automatic Scheduling
- Open the
Ganttview. - Click on
Automatic Scheduling(wand icon) in the top context menu bar.
In the following Automatic Scheduling dialog, two options are available:
- Schedule Forward – calculates the optimal start date of all dependent tasks based on the earliest start date.
- Schedule Backward – calculates the latest possible start date of all dependent tasks based on the latest due date.
Review and Apply Preview
In the next step, a preview of the proposed optimizations will be shown. The suggestions are indicated with arrows. You can decide whether to apply the changes or discard them.
- Click
Previewto see the proposed changes. - Then decide whether to
