Description
In project management, you can define which tabs within a project are visible, in what order they appear, and which tab is loaded first when opening the project. In addition, saved views and individual tasks can be pinned as their own tabs in the project. These adjustments enable optimized and more efficient use of the project view.
Manage tabs
Tab management allows the following adjustments:
- Show or hide tabs: Decide which tabs are visible. Tabs that are not needed can be disabled.
- Set the start view: Choose which tab is opened automatically when accessing the project.
- Change the order of tabs: Drag & drop tabs to the desired position to adjust the arrangement.
- Pin views as tabs: Place saved and shared views directly as separate tabs in the project.
- Pin tasks as tabs: Save important tasks directly as their own tab in the project so they are faster to access.
Open tab management
To manage the Tabs settings, follow these steps:
- Open the desired project
- Click the
⋯ menuat the top right - Select
Manage tabs
Set the start tab for a project
Within tab management, you can define which tab is opened automatically when a user opens the project.
- Open
Tab managementas described above. - In the list of tabs, click
Start viewnext to the desired tab. - Click
Saveto apply the changes.
Adjust the order of tabs
The order of tabs can be customized individually. This allows the most frequently used tabs to be moved further to the front.
- Open
Tab managementas described above. - Click the icon next to the respective tab and drag it to the desired position.
- Click
Saveto apply the new order.
Show and hide tabs
Tabs that are not needed for a project can be disabled. This keeps the project view clearer and limited to the most important functions.
Procedure:
- Open
Tab management. - Use the toggles next to the tabs to show or hide them.
- Click
Saveto apply the changes.
Example
If Board is defined as the start view, the board view will open directly the next time you access the project. If you also want to change the order, you can move Board to the first position, for example.
📌 Pin views as tabs
Save any shared view—for example list, board, or timeline views with custom columns, groupings, and filters—and pin it as its own tab per project for the whole team. Give the tab a freely chosen name, an icon with or without color, and define its position. This gives the project team quick access to the most important views you created for your project.
📌 Pin views
A saved and shared view can be pinned as a new tab. Everyone who opens the project will see the tabs exactly as you selected and designed them. For example, take your view for project participants or for a "blocker list", an "open items" list, and much more, and place it directly as a tab. This makes it an immediately visible navigation element.
🖊️ Custom tab name
The tab name is freely selectable and independent of the view name. You can of course keep the view name, but in some cases it makes sense to name the tab differently or more briefly. For example, the view name 11 - Change Requests can be shortened to CRs.
🎨 Icons & colors
Use visual codes with icons or emojis and a freely selectable accent color for the icon.
Order via drag & drop
Tabs (standard & pinned) can be re-sorted via drag handle. This lets you define the order and place frequently used views all the way on the left.
"More ..." tab
Tabs can also be hidden but remain accessible via the More ... tab. This allows you to hide rarely used but still important views/tabs.
🔒 Lock tab configuration
By default, the Admin and Member roles can configure a project’s tabs. If you want to protect your curated project tabs from accidental changes, simply lock the configuration dialog. Then only you and admins can change the tab settings.
How to pin a view
(1) Prepare the view
- For example, open the list view → adjust columns, grouping, or filters → in the view menu, click
Save as→ choose whether the view applies only to this project or globally → share the view in the workspace
(2) Customize the tab bar
- At the top of the screen, click the ⋯ menu →
Manage tabs - Move the cursor over a view type you want to pin a view for, e.g., List
- Click the + icon that appears and select from the available views
- Drag the view to the desired position using the drag handle
(3) Define the appearance (optional)
- Select an icon/emoji for the tab by clicking the icon to the left of the view title
- Assign a custom name for the tab. You can of course keep the view name. If you choose a custom name for the tab, it is independent of the view name.
- Define a color for the icon
(4) Hide in the menu (optional)
- Move the cursor over a view → click the
icon. The view will be moved under a new tab
More …. You can hide multiple views in theMore ...menu.
(5) Save – done!
From now on, the entire project team and everyone who opens the project will see the new tab.
📌 Pin tasks as tabs
In addition to views, individual tasks can also be pinned directly as their own tab in the project. This is helpful for tasks that are opened particularly often, e.g., go-live decisions, approvals, central alignments, or other important tasks that should be accessed quickly.
Pinned tasks are also added via Tab management and displayed in the project like other tabs. This allows you to place important tasks permanently in the tab bar and access them faster.
How to pin a task
- Open the desired project and click the
⋯ menuat the top right. - Select
Manage tabs. - Select
+ Pin task. - Select the desired task within the current project.
- If needed, drag & drop the new tab to the desired position.
- Click
Saveto apply the change.
After saving, the task appears directly in the project’s tab bar.
Open a pinned task
A pinned task tab opens the associated task directly. This allows you to open the task details regardless of which area of the project you are currently in.
NotePinned tasks are saved as project-specific tabs and are therefore visible to everyone who has access to the project.
How to lock the tab configuration
(1) Configure tabs in the project
- Pin views, pin tasks, adjust the order, choose icons/colors, set the start tab, ...
(2) Lock configuration
- In the same dialog, lock the configuration by clicking the 🔒 icon
Now only admins and you can make changes. You can remove the lock again in the same way.
Note
Editing a view—i.e., changing columns, filters, etc.—must still be done via the respective standard tab and by opening the view via the
Viewbutton.
Conclusion
With tab management, you decide which views and tasks are immediately visible in your project—and in what order and in what look. This keeps navigation lean, clear, and individually customizable.
- Keep the focus and pin, for example, only the views and tasks your team needs every day.
- Use visual codes with icons and colors!
- Arrange the tabs individually to reflect the workflow in your project
- Hide rarely used tabs in the
More ...menu or disable unused tabs entirely
Note
- The
Start viewsetting is project-specific and can be defined individually for each project. - The arrangement of tabs—whether standard tabs, pinned views, or pinned tasks— as well as the start view applies to all users of the project.
