Important dates, due dates, or milestones can be displayed directly and clearly in the portfolio. This allows you to see at a glance which relevant information belongs to a project without having to open each project individually.
To do this, you can use a relation Flavor. With this Flavor, you select a specific task or milestone and define which information from that linked task should be shown in the portfolio overview—for example the due date, the status, or other fields.
What you need
To monitor items in the portfolio, you need:
- a relation Flavor that is used to select a specific task or milestone
- a task or milestone in the project from which information should be displayed
- the fields you want to see in the portfolio overview, for example
Due date,Status, orPriority
How the principle works
The relation Flavor stores the link to a specific task or a specific milestone. You can then select which fields from that linked task should be displayed in the portfolio.
One of the selected fields can be displayed directly in the list. Additional selected fields remain linked via the relation as well.
Note: This allows you, for example, to select a milestone in the project and display its due date or status directly in the portfolio overview.
Create and configure a relation Flavor
Before you can display information from tasks or milestones in the portfolio, you first need to create and configure a suitable relation Flavor.
- Open a project and switch to the
Master data. - Create a new relation Flavor or show an existing relation Flavor.
- Assign a unique name.
- Define which tasks or projects this flavor applies to.
- In the configuration, select the fields that should be taken over from the linked task.
- Define which of these fields should be shown directly in the cell.
Use in the project
Next, use the prepared relation Flavor directly in the project’s list view. There, you select the task or milestone whose information should later be displayed in the portfolio.
- Open the desired project.
- Switch to
List. - Show the column with the prepared relation Flavor in the view.
- In the relation column, select the task or milestone that should be monitored.
This defines which task the later portfolio display should refer to.
Display in the portfolio
As soon as the relation is set in the project and the desired field is shown in the portfolio, the relevant date or milestone can be monitored directly at the portfolio level.
Depending on the configuration, the portfolio overview can display, for example, the due date or the status of the linked task directly.
Note
The relation Flavor only displays the desired information in the portfolio if a specific task or milestone has already been selected in the project. If no task is stored, the portfolio display will remain empty as well.
