Attaching files
Files can also be linked directly from Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint in Projects, Tasks, or Status Reports. The emphasis is on being linked, which means that attached files continue to "live" in OneDrive/SharePoint and are displayed in smenso only as attachments.
Assuming the organization's appropriate permissions, clicking on the files will directly open them in the OneDrive/SharePoint web viewer, where they can also be edited.
Note
When using this feature for the first time, you will be redirected to the Microsoft website in a new browser window to grant permission for accessing your OneDrive/SharePoint. Your browser might block this redirection by blocking pop-ups.
In that case, you need to actively allow the pop-up within your browser.
Functionality
The files can also be edited outside of smenso (in OneDrive/SharePoint or Teams) - the latest version will always remain linked within smenso.
Note
When attaching a file from OneDrive/SharePoint, the file automatically receives the following permissions from OneDrive/SharePoint:
- The file is only shared within the own (Microsoft 365) organization.
- The file is editable by organization members.
Consequently, members (or guests) in smenso can only open the file if they are also members of the (Microsoft 365) organization from which the file was shared.
The permission for accessing OneDrive/SharePoint can be granted either for oneself or for the entire organization, provided that the person performing the action has the necessary Microsoft organizational privileges.
