With the flavor types Location and Area you can display tasks and projects with geo-positions and areas on a map. Together with the Map view, projects with a geographic context can be visualised and analysed even more clearly.
What does this feature offer?
Flavors of type Location or Area store geodata (e.g. addresses or coordinates) directly on tasks or projects. The map tab displays all entries with geodata on an interactive map. Hovering or clicking reveals additional information from the task/project.
How it works
1. Create a “Location” or “Area” flavor
- Create a new flavor of type
LocationorArea. - Enter an address or coordinates (or a polygon for an area) directly in the flavor field.
- Multiple coordinate pairs can be stored to define entire zones or areas.
Examples:Location: Single address or point (e.g. construction site, event venue)Area: Drawn polygon, e.g. a property or work zone
2. Activate the map view
- Open
Functionsin the project or portfolio. - Enable the toggle
Map (Beta). - Optional: Decide whether the map tab should also appear in the portfolio overview.
- Define the initial map viewport (e.g. Germany, Europe).
3. Use the map view
- After activation, an additional Map tab is available in the project/portfolio.
- The map shows all tasks/projects that have flavors of type
LocationorArea. - Hovering or clicking an element displays extra details (e.g. project number, responsible person, description, other task fields).
Search field and widget
- The search field in the map view can be used to find addresses, flavors, or tasks.
- The widget resolves addresses and shows relevant tasks directly on the map.
Use-case examples
- Construction projects: Visualise site areas and manage tasks by clicking directly on the map.
- Field service: Manage regions, sites, and locations on one map.
- Events: Make venues and areas visible right in your project management.
Notes
- Location and Area flavors can be set as mandatory fields on tasks/projects.
- For large areas you can store multiple coordinates (polygons) in the flavor.
- This (Beta) feature must first be enabled for the workspace. You need the
Ownerrole. Go toSettings→Functions→Map (Beta).
