At the end of a project, the remaining closing activities should be carried out and documented in a structured way. In smenso, these activities can, for example, be grouped in a dedicated “Project Closure” task with corresponding subtasks.
Structure closing activities
The closing activities required depend on the individual project. These may include reviewing open tasks and milestones, completing the commercial closure, preparing a final report, holding a final meeting, and documenting lessons learned.
Document insights from the project
Before the project is finally closed, important experiences and insights should be documented. Lessons learned can help to capture successful approaches and potential improvements for future projects.
For more information, see Lessons Learned.
Archive the project
Once the closing activities have been completed, the project can be archived. You can find the corresponding setting under Manage project → Settings → Archive project.
Archived projects are hidden from the project overview and can be displayed and restored again if required.
For more information, see Archive a project.
Best Practice
- Group the closing activities in a dedicated task so that all remaining steps can be tracked clearly.
- Before closing the project, check whether open tasks and commercial topics have been completed.
- Document important insights and lessons learned before the project is archived.
- Archive the project only when the relevant closing activities have been completed and the required information has been documented.
