Include smenso as a website tab in Microsoft Teams
Regardless of the smenso Teams app, smenso can also be integrated into Microsoft Teams channels in another way: through the Website tab in Microsoft Teams.
This method of displaying smenso pages in Microsoft Teams makes use of the standard web browser function that is built into Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams can display any website as a tab.
To do this with the smenso application:
- Open Microsoft Teams and a channel in which you want to embed a smenso page.
- Click on the + at the top of the Teams tabs.
- Search and select the "App" Website.
- Give a name to the tab where the smenso page will be displayed.
- Open a page within smenso in your regular web browser that you want to display in the new tab in Microsoft Teams. For example, open a project and open the Timeline tab.
- Now add the digit sequence to the displayed URL in the address bar of the browser:
?integration=true
Note: The addition to the URL ?integration=true must be added. This creates a Microsoft Teams-compatible UI variant that, among other things, hides the sidebar and displays only the desired project.
A typical URL looks like this or similar:
https://namedesworkspaces.smenso.cloud/project/ca8f7c6ade984f5691dcf10a6cd57353/timeline?integration=true - Copy the entire URL to your clipboard (highlight the URL and press the key combination CTRL+C, alternatively, right-click the URL and select "Copy").
- Go back to Microsoft Teams and paste the copied URL into the URL field.
- Confirm the input by clicking on Save.
- The new tab in the Teams channel will be created and the page will load for the first time. To view the content, every viewer needs a registered smenso account.
Limitations and Specialities
What can be integrated in this way?
In theory, any subpage of smenso can be inserted and opened as a tab in Microsoft Teams in the manner described above, from standard project tabs such as list or timeline to specific views to a portfolio list.
Use URL addition for combined URLs
URLs in smenso can look very different and be composed of several expressions, for example, if a custom view is called. In this case, the URL addition must be appended with an & instead of the ?.
Example of a standard URL:
.../project/34afaa1274b249c48c4d4596985b98fa/tasksBoard?integration=true
Example of a composite URL, where there are already expressions that start with a ?:
.../project/34afaa1274b249c48c4d4596985b98fa/tasksBoard?view=board&groupby=folder&sortby=title-asc&f=eyJvbSI6dHJ1ZX0%3D&integration=true
Microsoft Teams always reloads saved URLs
The used URL remains fixed, i.e. with every update of the tab by Microsoft Teams, e.g. after restarting the Microsoft Teams app or switching channels, the target of the URL is loaded again. For example, if you embed a project with the "Timeline" tab and switch tabs to the board during work and then close the Microsoft Teams app, the Timeline will be loaded again in the tab the next time Microsoft Teams is started.
