Saving in the Task Dialog
Immediate Saving at Field Level
Unlike before, where tasks were only saved when users closed the task dialog by clicking outside of the dialog, changes are now saved immediately. Every time a field within a task is changed, whether it's entering text, selecting from a dropdown list, or changing the status, this change is saved immediately.
As a result, such changes are directly visible to other viewers who open the same task, even if the first person still has the task open.
Visual Confirmation of Saving
To be able to see at any time that changes have been successfully saved, we have introduced a visual confirmation in the task dialog. After each change, a brief note appears at the top of the task confirming the successful saving. This provides clear and immediate feedback that the data has been securely captured.
Closing the Task Dialog
With the introduction of immediate saving at field level, the function of closing the task dialog also changes. Since all changes are saved immediately, the 'X' now has no special function other than to close the dialog. This means that clicking on the 'X' or clicking outside the dialog has the same effect – both actions close the dialog while all changes made are already saved.
Note on Discarding Changes
Please note that with this new saving method, discarding changes is no longer possible. Once a change to a field is made, it is immediately saved.
Saving in List/Gantt Views
In list views and Gantt views, the saving process works identically: changes in individual list cells or in the Gantt are always saved immediately. This ensures that whether you are working in the task dialog or in a list or Gantt view, your changes are captured and saved immediately.
