Goal and purpose
Dependencies help you plan and manage tasks and milestones in a meaningful order. In the task details, you can view and manage dependencies directly – i.e., which tasks must be completed beforehand (depends on) and which tasks follow afterwards (dependent to).
Dependencies in task details
In the task details, dependencies are displayed in two groups:
Depends on– tasks/milestones that must be completed firstDependent to– tasks/milestones that follow afterwards
In these lists, you can open linked tasks directly or add new dependencies.
Add a dependency
A dependency can be added directly in the task (similar to linking in the comment field).
- Open the task (task details).
- Scroll to the Dependencies section.
- In the Dependencies section, click the
+on the right. - Select the appropriate direction:
This task is blocked by (predecessor)…This task blocks (successor)…
- In the search field (
Search by task/ID/folder…), search for the desired task. - Click the task you found to select it.
The dependency is applied immediately and then appears in the list under Dependencies.
Automatic backlinks
When two tasks are linked in the timeline view, the dependencies are created automatically as backlinks. This means they are then also visible in the task details.
Notifications
The responsible person(s) for the successor task receive a notification as soon as all dependent tasks have been completed.
