In the portfolio analysis, you also have access to generic chart widgets. These include a Bar Chart and a Donut Chart.
Both chart types can be configured flexibly and used multiple times within a single view.
General information about widgets (e.g. show/hide, arrange, save) can be found in the article “Widgets: Overview, customization & use cases”
Widget configuration
The generic chart widgets can be adapted flexibly to different analyses.
Depending on the chart type, different configuration options are available.
Typical configuration options include:
- Numeric field: Defines which value is evaluated in the chart (e.g. budget, effort, or costs).
- Grouping: Defines how the displayed values are grouped (e.g. by project type or status).
- Stacked bars: Multiple values can be combined within a single chart.
- Unit: Defines the unit in which values are displayed (e.g. hours, €, or count).
- Legend: The legend can be shown or hidden.
This allows you to create flexible analyses for your entire portfolio and save them as views.
Bar chart
The bar chart is suitable for comparisons between projects, categories, or status values.
The following example shows planned effort by project type. This allows you to see how effort is distributed across different project types and compare which areas are particularly resource-intensive.
Configuration options
- X-axis: Defines the grouping of the bars (e.g. project type or status).
- Y-axis / Numeric field: Defines which value is evaluated.
- Stacked bars: Multiple values can be combined within a single bar.
- Unit: Defines the unit in which values are displayed (e.g. hours, €, or count).
- Legend: The legend can be shown or hidden.
- Visual card: Hides additional visual information within the chart.
- Line: Defines how lines are displayed in the chart.
- Hide total sum: Hides the total sum per bar.
- Hide partial sum: Hides the individual partial values within a stacked bar.
Typical use cases include:
- Planned vs. actual effort by categories (e.g. development, testing)
- Number of risks per project (e.g. stacked by severity)
- Adherence to milestone deadlines per project
- Budget distributions by projects or categories
Stacked bars are supported. The total value per bar is displayed, while the individual values within the bar can be viewed by hovering over them with the mouse.
Donut chart
The donut chart is suitable for visualizing distributions and proportions.
Configuration options
- Numeric field: Defines the evaluated value.
- Grouping: Defines how values are grouped within the chart.
- Info line: Additional information inside the chart can be shown or hidden.
- Unit: Defines the unit in which values are displayed (e.g. hours, €, or count).
- Legend: The legend can be shown or hidden.
Typical use cases include:
- Budget distribution by project folders
- Project distribution by
status(e.g. On track, At risk) - Budget distribution by project categories
- Task status across all projects
- Share of blocked tasks in the portfolio
- Resource distribution by projects
- Distribution by strategic goals (e.g. growth, efficiency)
Save views
You can use the configured widgets:
- multiple times
- duplicate them
- and save them as your own views
This allows you to use different analyses in parallel.
The unit of the displayed values (e.g. €, hours, or count) is automatically determined based on the selected field.
