The project overview is the central page for getting a quick picture of a project: status, task situation, costs, effort, and resources – depending on which widgets you use. Here you'll find the most important project information bundled in one place.
For general information on widgets (e.g. show/hide, arrange, save) see the article Widgets: Overview, Customization & Locations.
Project Overview & Activities
Master Data Overview
- Shows: Key project information at a glance – e.g. project name, responsible persons, timeframe, and other master data.
- Good for: Are the basics still up to date? This widget is ideal for quickly reviewing or maintaining project data.
Feed
- Shows: An activity log of all important changes in the project – sorted chronologically.
- Good for: What changed recently? Who adjusted what? The feed makes the project history transparent without you having to open individual tasks.
-
Details:
- Many objects can be opened directly from the feed – e.g. tasks, comments, or attachments.
- Changes from all areas of the project are logged, including:
- Tasks (incl. field changes, attachments, and comments)
- Project master data and settings
- Status reporting
- File attachments
Tip
The feed is especially useful after a longer absence – you can see at a glance what happened in the project while you were away.
Note
The Feed shows the activities from the last three month.
Current Status
- Shows: The current or most recently published status report as a brief overview.
- Good for: How is the project doing right now? This widget provides the quickest answer when you open a project.
Note
More detailed status features (e.g. status history, past reports, copy status) can be found in the Project > Status area.
Project Progress
- Shows: The overall progress of the project as a visual summary.
- Good for: Does the progress match the reported status? If the status is green but progress is low, it's worth taking a closer look.
Note
More detailed status features (e.g. status history, past reports, copy status) can be found in the Project > Status area.
Status History
- Shows: The development of the overall status over time.
- Good for: Is the project stable or is there a downward trend? The status history shows whether a red status is a one-time outlier or part of a pattern.
Note
More detailed status features (e.g. status history, past reports, copy status) can be found in the Project > Status area.
Text
- Shows: Free text and notes in the project context – freely formattable.
- Good for: Project brief, important links, contacts, or notes that the team should always have in sight.
Tip
You can use the text widget to create a project brief. Learn more in the article Create a Project Brief.
Tasks
Task Status
- Shows: The task situation from a status/traffic-light perspective (depending on setup).
- Good for: Why is the project yellow or red? This widget helps you quickly narrow down the causes through the task distribution.
Tip
Click on a status in the chart to instantly display the affected tasks in a filtered view.
Task Allocation
- Shows: Allocation of tasks by a specific attribute – e.g. status, category (depending on configuration).
- Good for: Are there imbalances in the project? For example, too many tasks stuck in one status or assigned to a single person? This widget makes such imbalances visible.
Burndown
- Shows: How the remaining effort or number of open tasks develops over time. The ideal line trends steadily downward.
- Good for: Is the team on track? Is the remaining work decreasing – or is new work constantly being added?
Note
This widget is also available in the Portfolio Analysis – there it shows data across projects.
Costs & Budget
Cost Status
- Shows: The cost status in the context of the overall project status.
- Good for: Is the project within budget? This widget provides a quick assessment without having to dig deep into the numbers.
Cost Plan/Actual
- Shows: A comparison of planned and actual costs as a summary view.
- Good for: How much budget has been spent, how much is left? Useful as a "big picture" view when you don't want to start with monthly details.
Cost per month (plann/actual)
- Shows: Monthly costs comparing planned vs. actual.
- Good for: When do planned and actual costs start to diverge? This widget reveals timing-related deviations in cost development – so you can spot the need for corrective action early.
Note
This widget is also available in the Portfolio Analysis – there it shows values across projects.
Resources & Effort
Effort Status
- Shows: The effort/resource status in the context of the overall project status.
- Good for: Is the project running within the planned effort? This widget provides a quick assessment of whether the effort plan still holds.
Effort Plan/Actual
- Shows: A comparison of planned and actual effort.
- Good for: Is the team using more effort than planned? This widget makes "effort drift" visible – e.g. when actual effort increasingly exceeds the plan.
Monthly Resource Overview
- Shows: Resource and capacity values over the months for this project.
- Good for: In which months are the most resources needed? This widget helps with capacity planning and highlights peak loads.
Note
This widget is also available in the Portfolio Analysis – there it shows values across projects.
Workload
- Shows: The workload of resources in the project context.
- Good for: Are individual team members overloaded? This widget helps you identify bottlenecks early and redistribute work.
Analysis & Comparison
Bubble Chart
- Shows: Tasks or values as bubbles in a coordinate system. The axes and bubble size can be freely configured based on your fields or flavors.
- Good for: Where are the focal points in the project? Are there clusters or outliers? The bubble chart is especially useful for visually grasping relationships between multiple dimensions.
Note
This widget is also available in the Portfolio Analysis – there it shows values across projects.
List
The project overview also includes the list widget. It displays content in a tabular list format and is especially useful when you prefer scanning and comparing tasks rather than using charts.
For full details on the list widget (configuration, tips, details) see the section The List Widget in the overview article.
