What Are Widgets?
Widgets are the building blocks of your dashboard in smenso. Each widget displays a specific piece of information – e.g. the project status, upcoming tasks, or cost trends. You decide which widgets you see, where they are placed, and how large they are.
Where Can I Find Widgets?
You'll encounter widgets in several areas of smenso:
- Home: Your personal area where you can place widgets for different topics – e.g. favorite projects or upcoming tasks.
- Projects (Portfolio) > Analysis: The Analysis tab offers several widgets for cross-project evaluations.
- Project > Overview: The project overview displays relevant project information through various widgets.
- Project > Status: The Status section in the project menu shows status information in dedicated widgets.
Show, Hide, and Arrange Widgets
- Open
Customize(top right) in the respective area. - The menu displays all available widgets. Active widgets are checked.
- Check or uncheck the widgets you want to show or hide.
- Arrange widgets via drag & drop and resize them using the arrow icon (bottom right of each widget).
- Save the view to keep your changes.
Via the three-dot menu on each widget you can – depending on the widget type – change the title, hide, duplicate, or configure the widget.
Caution
Don't forget to save the view – otherwise your changes will be lost when you leave the page.
Note
Which widgets are available and which actions you can perform may depend on your role in the workspace.
Focus Content Within a Widget
Many widgets include a legend (e.g. in charts). Click on a legend entry to show or hide the corresponding value in the widget. This lets you highlight specific aspects – for example, display only actual costs and temporarily hide planned costs.
In some widgets (e.g. certain resource widgets) you can also scroll to see additional data.
The List Widget
The list widget is available in multiple areas (Home, Portfolio Analysis, Project Overview, Project Status) and works the same everywhere.
- Shows: Content in a tabular list format – e.g. tasks or projects along with their status.
- Good for: Prefer scanning and comparing entries rather than using charts? Then the list widget is the right choice.
-
Details: The three-dot menu offers the following options:
- Hide
- Configure widget
- Duplicate
Note
The widget can only be configured after the view has been saved first.
Tip
You can create a dedicated view for the list widget's tasks or projects. This lets you control exactly which columns and filters are visible in the list.
Build Your Personal Dashboard
Widget views are designed to let you build a dashboard that fits your role and daily workflow. A few ideas:
- Project Manager: Enable project progress, burndown, and cost plan/actual on the project overview – so you have the critical KPIs at a glance.
- Team Lead: Use "My upcoming tasks" and favorites in the home area to manage your daily focus.
- Stakeholder / Management: Enable the monthly cost distribution and resource overview in the portfolio area to spot trends across projects.
You can adjust any widget view at any time and save it as a new view.
