What is the Timeline?

The Timeline is an area in smenso Cloud that visually represents the different tasks and processes of a project.

It helps you to create a schedule for the entire project, in which the tasks are displayed with dependencies to each other.

If you work on a project, you can't avoid a project plan. It is an indispensable organizational tool. It represents the complex structures and processes of a project and ensures that you can complete your project "in time".

Projects can be very complex and have a long duration. The project plan reduces complexity. This makes it easier for employees to record projects. A project plan is therefore important in order to simplify projects to such an extent that they can be successfully completed.

In smenso Cloud, you have the option of conveniently mapping simple and complex projects in the time axis.

As soon as you have created your tasks, for example, you can switch to the timeline. To do this, select Timeline in the menu.

In the Timeline you have the possibility to connect the tasks with each other. In the project we assume that there are tasks that cannot be started as long as other work packages have not been completed.

These dependencies are particularly relevant for scheduling and are displayed in the Timeline with connection arrows.

In the smenso cloud, dependencies between work packages and milestones can be defined. In the project we assume that there are project phases and work packages that cannot be started until other phases and work packages have been completed.

These dependencies are particularly relevant for scheduling and are represented in the Gantt chart with connection arrows.

The following display characteristics apply:

• Completed tasks are marked with a green checkmark
• The blue vertical line indicates today (there is an analog clock at the beginning of this line)
• Milestones are represented as rhombuses
• Bars symbolize tasks

It is possible to operate the Timeline using key combinations.

Use the key combination CTRL + mouse wheel to zoom in the Timeline.

You can also use Shift + mouse wheel to move the timeline to the left or right.
