Note
Filters allow you to search specifically for certain criteria and organize content efficiently. They are available in different views and offer a variety of selection options for detailed filtering.
Apply filters
Filters can be applied at various points in smenso to the displayed tasks or projects. They allow complex selections and can be combined using AND/OR operators or nested in groups.
- In the List, Board, or Timeline views, the
Filterbutton is located above the content.
- In the filter dialog, you can select a field to filter by.
You can then define a condition for the selected field.
Depending on the field, different options are available, including:is equal tois not equal tocontainsdoes not containis emptyis not emptyis greater thanis less than
Date filters include additional options such as:todaytoday or earliertoday plusyesterdaylastoverduein the futurethis weeknext weekthis monthnext month
The optionstoday plusandlastinclude additional options such as:daysweeksmonthsyears
- In the next selection field, you can choose a variable, which differs depending on the field. For example, for the
Labelfield, the available labels appear here.
In the example of theDue datefield, the combinationDue dateis not emptyreturns all tasks that have due dates.
- If you want to apply the filter, click
Apply filter. The filter is applied in the background, while the filter dialog remains open in case you want to make changes. You can close the dialog by clicking thexor anywhere outside the filter dialog.
(If no filter criterion is selected, the button remains grayed out.)
- The filter button indicates how many filters are currently active. Here, for example, one filter:
Apply a combination of filters
If you want the selection to be even more specific, you can add more filters:
- With
+ Add filter, you can add additional filter criteria and combine multiple filters. For example, you could display all tasks that are due this week and assigned to a specific person.
- For the example filter mentioned above, select the operator field to the left of the field selection and choose
and.
- You can add more filters.
- The
+ Add filterbutton only appears after a first filter criterion has been defined. - You can remove individual filter criteria using the
β’β’β’menu.
Use filter groups
If you want to apply and combine different operators for the filters, you can also create filter groups and combine them using AND/OR operators.
- If you use
And, you can filter values that meet all filter criteria. If you useOr, filter results are displayed that meet at least one of the filters. - Within filter groups, you can also use
AND/ORoperators. - You can also combine multiple filter groups.
- Select the
β’β’β’menu. - Select either
Convert to grouporGroup with element aboveto create a group.
- Within the group, you can also add more filters and change the
AND/ORoperator.
In the β’β’β’ context menus, there are different ways to dissolve groups or remove individual elements from the group:
Filter groups can also be nested further. To do this, create a group within a group:
In this way, you can create all kinds of filter queries. For example, find out which tasks are overdue, are assigned to a specific person, are in the folder Creation, and are either of the type (a Flavor) Bug or Task:

Search in List views
This is not the same as our filters, but if you need a quick search, you can search for content using the search bar in List views (in the Portfolio or in the project).
- Click in the search field
- Enter a search term
- The result is highlighted in yellow
To remove the search term or restore the result list to its original state, click the x on the right edge of the search bar.
The Only me filter
In the List view within a project, there is a quick filter button Only me for tasks assigned to you. You can enable the quick filter in two places:
- At the far right edge of the search bar:
- In the filter dialog:
The buttons are always synchronized, meaning that no matter which of the two places you use to enable or disable the toggle, it is also enabled or disabled in the other place.
The feature has special properties:
- The basic function is to display tasks to which you are assigned, or more precisely, tasks where you are among the assigned people (as tasks can also have multiple assigned people).
- If the
Only mefilter is enabled in the List view, the number of filter criteria is automatically set to 1 or increased by 1 if filters already exist. - If the
Only mefilter is combined with other filters, it is always linked using anANDoperator. - The
Only mefilter is equivalent to a filter forAssignedcontainsme, where "me" is dynamic and refers to the currently logged-in user.
Using the Only me filter in shared views
The Only me filter is dynamic. This means that the filter can also be saved in views so that other members in the workspace can use it.
This allows views with the Only me filter to be created and shared with other members in the workspace, so that everyone only sees the tasks assigned to them.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
