In smenso, templates can be created and reused for three areas: tasks, projects, and status reports. Templates save time on recurring processes and ensure consistent structures across the workspace.
One important difference upfront
The basic principle behind templates differs depending on the area:
-
Task and status report templates are standalone copies, decoupled from the original task or report. You create them explicitly via
💾 Save as template, and they exist independently of the object they originated from afterwards. -
Project templates work differently: An existing, regular project is turned into a template itself via a toggle (
Use project as template) - no separate copy is created.
Task templates
- Managing Task Templates - Create, edit, lock, pin, and delete templates.
- Applying Task Templates - Create a new task from a template or apply a template to an existing task.
Project templates
- Managing Project Templates - Define a project as a template and understand the properties of project templates.
- Applying Project Templates - Create a new project from a template or update an existing project with a template.
Status report templates
- Managing Status Report Templates - Create, edit, delete, and pin templates.
- Applying Status Report Templates - Apply a template to a status report, create one directly from a template, or set it as the default template for a project.
Tip
Not sure where to start? If You just want to create, edit, or delete a template, the respective "Managing" article is the right place. If You want to use an existing template - whether for a new object or an existing one - the respective "Applying" article is the right place.
