In tab management, you can define which tabs within a project are visible, in what order they appear, and which tab is loaded first when opening the project. Saved views and individual tasks can also be pinned as their own tabs.
Opening tab management
- Open the desired project
- Click the
⋯ menuat the top right - Select
Manage tabs
Icons and colors for tabs
All tabs - both standard tabs (such as List, Board, Gantt) and pinned views and tasks - can be given an individual icon or emoji and an accent color. Click the icon to the left of the tab name in tab management to do so.
Showing and hiding tabs
Tabs that are not needed for a project can be disabled. This keeps the project view clearer and limited to the most important functions.
- Open
Tab management - Use the toggles next to the tabs to show or hide them
- Click
Save
Tip
Rarely needed but still important tabs don't have to be disabled - they can also be hidden in the More … menu and remain accessible from there.
Adjusting the order of tabs
The order of tabs can be customized so that the most frequently used tabs appear further to the left.
- Open
Tab management - Drag a tab to the desired position using the drag handle
- Click
Save
Setting the start view
You can define which tab is opened automatically when someone opens the project.
- Open
Tab management - Click
Start viewnext to the desired tab - Click
Save
Note
The start view is project-specific and applies to all people who open the project.
Pinning views as tabs
Saved and shared views - e.g. list, board, or timeline views with custom columns, groupings, and filters - can be pinned as their own tabs in the project navigation. Everyone who opens the project will see the tabs exactly as you configured them.
How to pin a view
Step 1 - Prepare the view: Open e.g. the list view, adjust columns, grouping, or filters and save the view via Save as. Share the view in the workspace so it can be pinned.
Step 2 - Customize the tab bar:
- Open
Tab management - Hover over the desired view type (e.g. List)
- Click the
+icon that appears and select the view - Drag the tab to the desired position using the drag handle
Step 3 - Define appearance (optional):
- Click the icon to the left of the tab title to select an icon or emoji
- Assign a custom tab name - this is independent of the view name
- Choose an accent color for the icon
Step 4 - Save. From now on, the entire project team will see the new tab.
Note
Editing a view (columns, filters, etc.) must still be done via the respective standard tab and the View button - not via the pinned tab.
Pinning tasks as tabs
Individual tasks can be pinned directly as their own tab in the project navigation. This is particularly useful for tasks that are opened frequently - e.g. go-live decisions, approvals, or central alignments.
How to pin a task
- Open
Tab management - Select
+ Pin task - Select the desired task within the project
- Drag the tab to the desired position using drag & drop if needed
- Click
Save
After saving, the task appears directly in the project's tab bar. Clicking the tab opens the task details - regardless of which area of the project you are currently in.
Note
Pinned tasks are visible to everyone who has access to the project. When a template with a pinned task is used to create a new project, the tab automatically points to the corresponding task in the new project.
Locking the tab configuration
By default, admins and members can edit a project's tab configuration. To protect your curated tabs from accidental changes, you can lock the configuration dialog.
- Open
Tab management - Click the
🔒icon in the dialog
After locking, only admins and you can make changes. The lock can be removed in the same way.
Note
- The start view is project-specific and can be defined individually for each project.
- The arrangement of tabs - whether standard tabs, pinned views, or pinned tasks - as well as the start view applies to all users of the project.
