Project reports help to provide a transparent view of the current status and development of a project. In smenso, status reports with current project data can be combined with individually configured analyses.
For a cross-project perspective, various analyses in the portfolio analysis can also be used.
Document the project status
In the Status area, the current project status can be documented regularly. A status report includes, among other things, the progress as well as assessments of time, cost, and scope.
Comments on the status and the next steps can also be recorded. This provides a traceable snapshot of the current project status at a specific point in time.
Track the development of the project status
Previous status reports are retained and can be compared with the current project status. The status trend also shows how the overall project status has developed over time.
This makes it possible to track changes in the project status and previous assessments at a later point in time.
Analyze project data with widgets
Various widgets can be used in the project overview to display relevant project data clearly. Depending on the information required, tasks, costs, effort, resources, or project progress can be analyzed, for example.
Under Customize, you can select which widgets are displayed in the project overview. This allows the overview to be tailored to the information relevant to the respective project.
For more information, see Widgets in the Project Overview and Widgets: Overview, Customize & areas of use.
Analyze projects across the portfolio
Under Projects → Analysis, information from multiple projects can be analyzed together. Various analysis widgets are available for this purpose, including charts and analyses of costs and resources.
The displayed projects can be narrowed down using filters. This allows cross-project analyses to focus on the projects that are relevant in each case.
For more information, see Widgets for Portfolio Analysis.
Best Practice
- Document the project status regularly so that the development of the project remains traceable.
- Add comments and next steps to status reports when additional context is required for the assessment.
- Select the widgets in the project overview that are relevant for managing the respective project.
- Use consistent analyses wherever possible when multiple projects are to be compared with each other.
- Use the portfolio analysis to evaluate relevant metrics from multiple projects together.
